About Randal Berry
My name is Randal Berry, and I am a “snake wrangler” (actually an animal keeper) by profession. I currently work at the Little Rock Zoo in Arkansas. I have been in the zoo field since 1987, working mostly with reptiles. I previously worked in two other zoos in Texas before coming back to Little Rock. Venomous reptiles and crocodilians have been a life long endeavor for me. I also must confess, I am an assassination “buff” or a “Boothie”.
Anyway I fell into this, "hook, line and sinker!” Nowadays my wife thinks I need to enter a “12 Step” program to wean me from this “obsession.” I disagree, because there are still so many facts to be glommed from this.
I have read Bishops book more times than I care to count. I especially loved the last part, the “Postscript.” Just like today, I love reading Michael Kauffman’s “Coda” in American Brutus! What pleasantly surprised me, was that several contemporary authors were influenced by Bishop’s book (so I’m not alone).
Fast forward to many years later, while killing time at the airport in Tampa, Florida. I stopped by a little book kiosk and a likeness of Mary Surratt on the spine of a book stopped me cold. I thought, wait, I recognize the likeness and I saw the title, Mary Surratt, An American Tragedy. All those early interests of the Lincoln assassination came flooding back. I had to have this book! This was in early 1997. Twelve years has gone by, and my book collection regarding the assassination is nearing 80. I actually wrote to Elizabeth Trindal, the author of The Mary Surratt Book, and she signed it for me. She also sent me a partial manuscript of an update for the book. In the mean time, I have been blessed to meet many contemporaries in this field, and every one of them has been gracious, considering my constant questions/annoyances!
I hope you enjoy my website, and please offer any suggestions to improve it.
I end with an Asia Booth quote,
“So runs the world away”
