Betty, can you post the picture of Lewis' father that you sent me in the summer of 1996? I have received several letters from females who like that picture! If you don't have it readily available I will be glad to upload it for Linda.

Thanks Betty and Roger.

That's a cute detail about the miser's purse. Now we know what Lewis' mother was thinking as she stared into the camera: "I hope he stays still, I hope he stays still..."

The Pennsylvania Historical Society has the John Rodgers Family Papers which includes, "the 1830 agreement between Rodgers and Jacob Swimley regarding the building of a house in Washington, D.C."  I wonder if that may have a floor plan?  Someone more experienced with real research check out "Box 1: 17"

Has anyone contacted the Historical Society of Pennsylvania regarding the agreement between Rodgers and Swimley?  There is a Research by Mail service available.

This service is especially useful to those who cannot visit the library in person. For a pre-paid fee, a skilled staff researcher will investigate and respond to your research request utilizing sources available in our library and manuscripts collections. Please see our Research by Mail section or call 215-732-6200 ext. 209 for further details.

John hinted he might look.  Otherwise Linda I say it's your baby, go with it.

Okay.  I'll see what they have to say.  It can take 6-8 weeks for them to send the documents after receiving payment.
