New Seward biography by Walter Stahr
Linda Anderson:
In honor of Seward's birthday, which is May 16, I thought I'd post that Walter Stahr, author of John Jay: Founding Father, has written a biography of Seward which will be published in September 2012. The title is William Henry Seward: Lincoln's Indispensable Man.

That's good to see, Linda. Now if someone could come up with new biographies of Stanton, Welles and Bates.

Gene C:
Rob,
Were you refering to noted author ( and - cough, cough - historian) Finis Bates?
I would love to see an updated one on Stanton and Laf. Baker (at a reasonable price)
Rob Wick:
Nope Gene. I meant Edward Bates. ;)
Best
