Well then, we'll call them the "dear departed?" :)  On the bright side, I've compiled quite a collection of assassination-related trivia during the 50 years that I've been studying the murders of both Lincoln and Kennedy, which should keep this thread active for awhile at least!

As to your guess on the hat - not even close.  It's not an article of apparel.
