Hi, my name is Tommy and I'm a long time lurker on this site. My main interest is John Surratt Jr. and Lewis Powell. I have been researching both "characters" for years and I have glommed a lot of information regarding them from this site. Thank you, this is the best site far and wide concerning the Lincoln assassination! One thing that bothers me is, Powell has been constantly described as a "kid" someone following orders, etc., I have a hard time seeing that in his character. The young man at one time was a confederate soldier, but at the time he joined the plot, he no longer had a legitimate allegiance to the south, he did attempt murder. As far as John Jr. going to Elmira N.Y. to "scout" a confederate prisoner facility prior to the assassination, I think that is bogus. Anyway, hi to everyone and I'm glad to participate.

Welcome Tommy. Glad you joined. You make some great points, though, some might debate them, which is great because I'm all for different point of views.
